Quilt Savvy: Gaudynski's Machine Quilting Guidebook

This is probably my favorite book on free-motion quilting with home machines. Diane Gaudynski provides a thorough guide on the various aspects of beautiful and effective free-motion quilting. I love her style of presentation - very direct and yet personal. I always thumb through the book before embarking on a new free-motion quilting project just to refresh my memory on the different pointers Diane has sprinkled throughout the book.

Of course, I would also jot down the tips and tricks I have learned from my own experience on the pages for added reminders. This might be a minor issue, but I really like the spiral bound format.

American Quilts & Coverlets in the Metropolitan Museum of Art

This "coffee-table" book is definitely worthwhile to add to a quilter's collection, especially one who is fascinated by quilts that were preserved from the 18th and 19th centuries. The book is filled with beautifully printed pictures as well as interesting history associated with the quilts when information is available. It also has a catalogue at the end documenting the techniques used in the quilts of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

I am amazed at the productivity and sense of art the women in history exuded, maybe unknown. And yet, they left behind for us quilters such an inspiring wealth of leagcy through their work.

Encyclopedia of Classic Quilt Patterns

This is another favorite of mine. It is such a treasury for getting ideas for my next quilt and the color combinations. I especially like the pieced quilts featured in this book as there are quite a few that are simply amazing.
